A Dorset woman has been convicted of Animal Welfare Act offences after keeping Persian cats in squalid conditions. She was ordered to pay costs of £53,275.78. RSPCA officers discovered the cats living in unsanitary and overcrowded spaces throughout her property, suffering from various health issues. The defendant received a suspended prison sentence and a 10-year ban on owning cats. RSPCA inspector Patrick Bailey stated that the property resembled a storage facility rather than a home. The cats were removed and assessed by vets, who found inadequate living conditions and poor hygiene. The cats will be rehomed by the RSPCA.
