As the festive season approaches, vet charity PDSA warns pet owners about the dangers of chocolate to their furry friends. Chocolate contains a substance called theobromine that is toxic to dogs, cats, and rabbits. PDSA sees a 35% increase in medication for poisonings around Christmas, costing up to £300 to treat. The most severe cases can lead to heart failure and even death. Symptoms of chocolate poisoning include panting, shaking, seizures, and high blood pressure.
