Hi everyone,
Today we’ve got a handy infographic on what plants are safe for pets and which ones are not.
Those of us that have a garden would of course love to give free access to this to our pets but it’s not always easy to determine which plants may cause a problem for our fur family members.
This is why it’s important to research what plants are safe and can be in a garden that has cats or dogs living in it.
We hope you found this infographic useful! The infographic was kindly provided by UK compost and garden supplies retailer, Compost Direct.
Thanks,
Marc
Good to know 🙂
Thanks 🙂
Excellent post Marc. Even if one has read some of the information before, a reminder or a word to the wise is appreciated.
Thank you Lea 🙂

Great information! Thank you for this.
You are welcome ^^
Thank you

A useful post, thank you. I’ve found it quite hard to find out which plants are suitable for planting in our large cat enclosure. Bamboo, for instance, is listed as non-toxic in some lists but toxic in others. I’ve decided to play it safe and am just planting a selection of ornamental grasses. I’m sure the cats will enjoy hiding in those 🙂
It is indeed difficult to be 100% safe with plants.
I have never seen a cat eat a deliphinium in my life. The only thing on this list you should worry about are slug pellets. They kill slugs and hedgehogs do they can kill pets. Cats are not herbivores and do not eat plants, so don’t worry and let your cat out!
Well one of our cats thinks she is a goat and eats anything green xD. It’s more about planting stuff that’s safe. 🙂
Great infographic, Marc. Thanks! Our girls are indoors only, but we are careful about houseplants and flower arrangements. We had a cat before who liked to eat leaves — lettuce and otherwise, so you just never know.
That’s exactly our problem as well. Nubia are a whole indoor rose bush when she first arrived…
I think these type posts are invaluable Marc, particularly these infographic type which make reading and digesting the information easier.
Just because we haven’t seen pets chew/eat particular plants, doesn’t mean it can’t or won’t happen. Yes, cats are carnivores, but we know they will eat grass. Most will also eat catnip/cat mint if available. Owners have also been known to say their cats will eat or bite the leaves of other various plants. So we shouldn’t be too complacent about this. We should all do whatever we can to keep our cats safe. Of course we can’t control what our neighbours plant, but we can at least keep our gardens safe for outdoor cats.
Thank you! That’s exactly why I keep sharing these. 🙂
Thank you. Please do continue to share them. ??
