Purrsday Poetry: Siberian Tiger

O how this glorious tiger leaps along
The heights and in orange splendor braves the snow !
Her gorgeous grandeur, though the wild winds blow,
Like sunrise or like fire shines bright and strong !

All autumn’s glory when the days prolong
The Indian Summer’s warming harvest glow,
Like pumpkins, maple leaves, day lilies’ grow,
She prances powerfully towards evensong.

Alas ! Endangered now, these tigers leap
Towards an uncertain future: whether we,
The most destructive species that we know,
Or climate change brings an eternal sleep
Unto them all in tragic deviltry,
We pray they prowl on through the virgin snow.

I work with people all over the world who move lions and tigers to sanctuaries and I am greatly moved by this utterly beautiful tribute. What a lovely capture of this cat. You write from the cat of your own heart. Thank you.
