Competition: Big Cat Nap 2018 Photo Competition for Charity

Sit back, put your paws up and
‘do nothing’ for Born Free!

Maddie – last year’s Big Cat Nap winner

Maddie the rescue moggie launches The Big Cat Nap
– a laid back week of fundraising  for big cats in the wild

International wildlife charity Born Free is highlighting the plight of the world’s most endangered big cats through The Big Cat Nap – a week of sleep-themed activities and pet photography competition from the 2nd to the 8th July.

During The Big Cat Nap, pet owners are encouraged to snap a picture of their sleeping pet (it’s called Cat Nap but any sleepy pet pictures will be accepted*), make a small donation by texting ZZZZ13 followed by the amount you would like to donate** (ie £1, £2, £5, £10) to 70070, and share the photo on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using #BigCatNap.

Born Free will share photos on its social media platforms, and pets will be entered into a competition to be ‘The Face’ of the 2019 Big Cat Nap, and appear on promotional media – just like last year’s winner, eight year-old Maddie, from Swansea.

Those looking to do something a bit more active could organise a ‘wear pyjamas to work or school’ day, a wildlife quiz or a sponsored sleepover. All money raised will go directly towards big cat conservation and welfare.

Born Free’s events Manager, Joanne Bartholomew says: “We are so pleased that the Big Cat Nap is back for its seventh year!  Big cats in the wild can sleep up to 23 hours a day and many domestic pets are not far behind their wild cousins, spending the majority of their time snoozing in a favourite spot! With just 20,000 lions left in the wild today, events like the Big Cat Nap are vital to help spread awareness of their plight, as well as raise vital funds.”

Visit www.bornfree.org.uk/the-big-cat-nap to find out more about the Big Cat Nap 2018.

* Please don’t send pics of ‘exotic species’ such as monkeys, lemurs, parrots, lizards or snakes, as Born Free opposes the keeping of wild animals as pets. The ‘exotic pet’ trade is a big global business and can inflict terrible suffering and endanger species. Wild animals have complex needs and never make good pets

**Born Free will receive 100% of the donation and text messages are free on all networks

Very sweet pictures <3 No wonder that Maddi won the contest, she's an adorable sleeper 😀 I sleep like a lion too, 23 hours and stretched like that 😀 Pawkisses for a wonderful week ahead 🙂 <3
Btw: see, Marc, one way or the other I find my way 😉

What an awesome idea. Getting pictures of cats sleeping has to be one of the easiest tasks in the world. Hope it helps the big cats.
