She currently serves as the Global Vice President of Veterinary Quality and Patient Safety at Mars Veterinary Health. In this role, her primary responsibilities include overseeing patient safety initiatives, spearheading the design and development of quality programs and standards, and addressing antimicrobial resistance.

Dr Low has held several significant roles in the veterinary field, including Vice President of Medical Operations at VCA Inc., Regional Medical Director for VCA in the Pacific Northwest (Alaska, Washington, and Oregon), Medical Director at VCA Northwest Veterinary Specialists in Portland, Director of Emergency Services at the same facility, and Associate DVM at Pets Unlimited, a nonprofit veterinary hospital and shelter based in San Francisco.

Rochelle Low, commented on her appointment: “I am excited and honoured to take on the role of Chair of the Essential Standards Committee for WSAVA. Setting key standards for companion animal practice globally will make an important difference to our patients and the veterinary teams that care for them. I am really looking forward to joining the WSAVA team”.

We are thrilled to appoint Rochelle Low as the Chair of our Standards Steering Committee,” said Ellen van Nierop WSAVA President. “Rochelle’s proven track record of leadership and her dedication to veterinary medicine make her the ideal candidate to guide our efforts in implementing WSAVA’s Essential Standards for Companion Animal Veterinary Practices.

The Standards Steering Committee will initially concentrate on two main tasks: identifying strategic partner organizations that can contribute to the development and launch of the ESCAVP and creating a practical project plan outlining its key milestones and areas of focus. The goal is to ensure that the ESCAVP is designed to help companion animal veterinary practices assess their current practices, pinpoint areas for improvement, and access additional support resources.
