Keeping Your Feline Friend Calm During Bonfire Night: Tips and Products to Help

Hi everyone,

It’s me Rennie here today. For those of you not in the UK you are probably wondering what my sister and I mean by keeping your feline friend calm during Bonfire night!

Freya: I’ve not actually encountered a Bonfire night yet either… so could you enlighten me what it is all about brother?

Rennie: Of course I forgot you are technically still a baby! Well this is what I found on the caternet:

“Bonfire Night is a great British tradition. As neighbourhoods and communities build bonfires in gardens and playing fields, they are commemorating the survival of King James I after the foiling of a plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605. Bonfires will be aflame and fireworks aglow, whizzing and exploding across the November skies.”

Freya: What’s are fireworks?

Rennie: Well… they produce loads of nice colourful lights…

Freya: That is it? It sounds like something fun!

Rennie: It would be if it wasn’t for the loud explosion and banging noises they also happen to make! :O

Freya: So what are we going to do about this?!?

Rennie: Well there are the simple things like keeping your feline friends indoor and ensuring the windows are closed to minimise the impact of outside noise but additionally there is a great product available to help calm our nerves.

Rennie: It’s Pet Remedy, which comes in various options such as the Calming Spray and Plugin Diffuser.

Rennie: I personally think that the boxes of the small spray also make a purrfect chin scratcher. 😉

Freya: So how does this work?

Rennie: Well for starters make sure you instruct your humans to actually plug in the diffuser / spray your blankets. 😉 Once it’s plugged in / sprayed on the essential oils within the diffuser will start working on us felines very quickly. Basically, it works with our own natural calming mechanisms by mimicking what’s called GABA (gamma amino butyric acid), which is a natural calming agent present in all mammals, birds, and reptiles. So in laymans terms it helps calm our nerves. 😀  For full details of the benefits of Valerian on us, you can also check out the human’s detailed post here.

Rennie: Right this has made me all tired now! Too many big words for a little feline like me. But before I go make sure your humans prep your place sufficiently for the big Bonfire night which is on the 5th November, thus meaning that most likely we will have to deal with fireworks the weekend before and after argh! So if your humans happen to be planning an order from our friends over at Katzenworld Blog Shop you may wish to ask them to include Pet Remedy for your household to help keep you calm during this fun (for humans) but stressful (for us cats) time!
