‘This is a photograph of my cat, Sugar and me. My family has been fostering cats for 11 years now and Sugar actually started as a pregnant foster.
Her kittens were adopted and then she was put up for adoption, but she was miserable, biting and hissing at everyone, in the adoption center and was deemed unadoptable, so they asked if we would take her back. Of course we said yes, we couldn’t understand how she was considered mean; we had named her Sugar because she was so sweet!
Sugar became my cat and quickly became very loyal to me, she can sometimes nip at others, but she always wants me to hold her and love her, just like in that photo. She’s been in my life for 8 years now and our bond has gotten stronger with every passing day; she’s my baby girl and I’m her person.’
Lexy’s winning image features in the 2020 ‘Cats & People’ charity calendar which is now on sale to raise funds for International Cat Care’s feline welfare work.

Love that story. Love that they found each other.
Yes 😀
I love this. It is always so inspiring when a story involving a cat ends well … for everyone
Indeed!
Poor Sugar. All her babies taken away. Sounds like she needed some familiarity. I am glad she got it.
Yes <3
I love the picture of her on the beach with you! My cat patches has to be inches from my face while I sleep, and when working at the table, he is practically pushing my work out of my hand so he can be pet instead. The unconditional love of pets is amazing 🙂 and they being so much joy to us
Oliver does the whole pushing work out of my hand too. ?
