Archie & The Lawlor Cat Hotel

by Jane Lawlor

Ever wonder what your cat gets up to when you’re not around? Delightful book for kids and cat lovers follows the inimitable Archie as he lives it up with a coterie of furry friends at the luxurious Lawlor Cat Hotel.

Dogs have owners. Cats have staff!

Cat pampering indoors and defocused smiling woman

When humans drop their beloved cats off for a stay at the Lawlor Cat Hotel, they cannot possibly imagine what goes on behind the five star doors. At night time, Archie the cat who runs the hotel, turns off the CCTV cameras and lets the fun begin! Accompanied by Archie’s doggy team Dougy, Buddy and Alfie and the horses Dan and Louis, the cats leave their smart suites to join him on adventures like rodeo, skiing and even playing basketball.

A professional cat groomer finishes the grooming on a cat. The pet is laying on a grooming table, inside a pet grooming business while the woman groomer combs the animal’s hair.

When too much mischief abounds at the hotel, Archie has to get the guests out of trouble. And keeping different cats, kittens, breeds and personalities in line can be a challenge for even the cleverest of cats.

Jane Lawlor runs the UK’s leading hotel for cats, where owners can leave their fur babies safe in the knowledge that they are enjoying fine food and spa treatments all delivered with lots of fuss and attention; they can even check in on their pets via CCTV. Jane understands that in looking after people’s pets she’s pampering a valued family member. Inspired by her passion for cats and the many different characters—both human and feline— who’ve grace the hotel, her charming first book is a must-read for cat lovers of all ages. One lucky reader will even get to visit the cat hotel. Seeing is believing: log on to to find out more.

About the author: Jane Lawlor was born in Dublin in 1971. At the age of five she moved with her mum and sister to London, then later settling in Potters Bar. Her love affair with animals of all kinds began when she struck up an unlikely friendship with Lady Ann Naylor who lived nearby and allowed a young Jane to ride at her private stables in exchange for mucking out her racehorses. Jane’s dream job would have been to become a vet, but unable to afford the university fees she became a trainee accountant; wildly industrious, she went to night school four nights

a week after work and qualified in 1995 aged twenty-four. She worked in banking in the city of London until she set up her own property management firm at the age of thirty, and continues to run today. In 2013 Jane and her husband Skipsey bought Great Warley Place in Essex where she opened her cat hotel in 2016; a luxury antidote to cramped catteries, Jane spoils her furry guests like royalty! Jane is the mother of twin boys, Patrick and Rory; parental exhaustion, the need for good bedtime stories and the desire to share her passion for cats with her sons and other children, motivated her to write this book. Archie is Jane’s own cat. He replies to all emails at the cattery.
