Street Cats Photography Competition Winners

We are delighted to announce the 12 winning images of the 2017 iCatCare ‘Street Cats’ photography competition – launched to raise awareness of the plight of street cats!

Over the past five years our annual photography competitions have collectively attracted over 10,000 entries from across the globe. This year over 2,100 images from photographers in 56 different countries were sent in.

The judging panel, which included iCatCare’s Chief Executive Claire Bessant, who has judged the charity’s photography competitions over the past five years, were overwhelmed by the standard of the images submitted and by their accompanying stories.

A behind the scenes look at the judging

Eve Davies, who ran this year’s ‘Street Cats’ photography competition and last year’s ‘Cat Naps’ photography competition, said ‘Though picking the winners is always hard, it’s a testament to the high quality of the entries we receive. It can be a difficult job but it’s hugely rewarding because of all the wonderful photographs that we find for our annual charity calendar which is sold to raise funds for our welfare work.’

Congratulations go to Jonas Chan, Mei Catherall, Chi Keung Wong, Rachel Hunter, Catan Ngan, Seyed Mohammad Fallah Firouzkouhi, Christine Lam Ying Loi, Igor Taranenko, Tulyawat Mahawong and Heiko Damme – our winners!

All twelve winners will each receive a certificate, copies of the 2018 calendar their image will feature in and a selection of iCatCare merchandise. Winners will also be invited to attend iCatCare’s Annual Awards Event in London, UK, on 14 July 2017, where the overall winner, who will receive £500 in prize money and whose image will grace the front cover of the calendar will be announced.

As there were so many amazing entries submitted, we have opened a public vote for a 13th winner to be chosen, whose image will feature alongside the dates for 2019 at the end of the ‘Street Cats’ calendar. Voting is now open and will run until 16th June. To vote for your favourite image visit: www.icatcare.org/photography-competition/2017

Over the coming weeks we will be sharing with you the stories behind the winning images! In the meantime click here to view all of the winning photographs.
