Book Mews: Ami Ami Kittens – Seriously Cute Crochet!

Hi everyone,

Welcome back to books on Wednesday’s! Today we are looking at Ami Ami Kittens – Seriously Cute Crochet!

Kitten lovers, crafty folks, and people who just love cute stuff can rejoice: AMI AMI KITTENS: Seriously Cute Crochet! (Harper Design; Trade Paperback) is a craft book following on the heels of the great success of AMI AMI DOGS and AMI AMI DOGS 2, but now for cat lovers! With clear step-by-step instructions and patterns, and whimsical photograph inserts of kittens, AMI AMI KITTENS will intrigue the most expert crafters while beckoning newcomers to try their hand at creating these adorable toys.

AMI AMI KITTENS introduces readers to various techniques of Amigurumi, the popular Japanese art of crocheting stuffed animals. The signature style of Amigurumi, which translated means “knitted stuffed toy,” are the crocheted animals’ large heads and small bodies, which add to their charming appeal.

In AMI AMI KITTENS, crocheters will learn:
– Basic crocheting techniques (perfect for beginners!)
– Spiral techniques to ensure stuffing will not come out
– Patterns and detailed directions for many different types of kittens! Including: Tabby, Pointed, Black/White Solid, Calico, Black and White, Scottish Fold, Siamese, Russian Blue, Munchkin, Maine Coone, British Shorthair, and American Shorthair!

A surefire conversation starter and great gift idea, AMI AMI KITTENS mini versions of your favorite cuddly feline will inspire you to pick up the needle and thread like no other craft project!

Our verdict? If you love crotching this is the purrfect book for you! It will combine your hobby with creating super adorable kawaii cats.

Now our own DIY skills are slightly limited so we involved a friend of ours that LOVES crotching! Said friend has been challenged to re-create us a few of these cute little kittens and we will follow-up with a post once they are done. 😀

  1. I have this book and love the photos. SO far I have only made a cat head- my fingers are too big 🙂

  2. Oh, Why? Why did you have to post this? Now mom wants that book and I know she will make them and I will not be allowed to touch them! Not fair!

    1. If she makes some please send us photos! So far I’ve not been able to make one lol. I suck at this kind of stuff but my friend promised he’ll make an Oliver and a Nubia b:D

    1. One hook vs. 2 needles, Crocheting (at least for me) is much easier because it doesn’t require the hand coordination, of using 2 needles opposed to one hook. You need need to learn to keep tension but that comes from experience

        1. 😀 drop me an email with your address please and I’ll send you one of them ^^

If I was better at crocheting I’d make some little kitties to go along with it but I’m not good at that xD. And I used to take classes in school 🙁
