Saying Goodbye to Renegade: A Tribute to Our Beloved Prince of the Katzenworld Clowder

Dear readers, friends and followers.

Sunday night we sadly had to say goodbye to Renegade, the prince of our Katzenworld clowder. Tho those that know him will realise he saw himself as the KING!

Renegade came to us only seven years ago and we always thought he’d outlive us humans as he was so full of energy and always demanding cuddles and attention.

But sadly towards the end of last year, he started showing signs of Chronic Kidney Disease. For the last few months our vets and we did everything we could to delay the inevitable as much as possible but last week it got too much for his little body. 🙁

We were however lucky enough to have a few months of very happy moments with him thanks to the advice from our vets and friends that had experience with advanced stages of CKD and we made some fabulous happy memories such as the video above of Iain and Renegade. His favourite position was swimming on his favourite human. <3

Sunday evening was the toughest and saddest time in our life and we were lucky to have one of our best friends alongside us as we had to say goodbye to Rennie. But he will never be forgotten! His unique personality will forever be remembered in our hearts.

Join us in remembering some of his cutest moments around the house, his favourite garden and with his best feline friends Mactavish and Freya!

It will take time for us to adjust to what feels like a very empty house now but the others in our clowder, friends and family are helping us in this difficult time.

Marc & Iain

Oh my gosh I’m so sorry 😥. I saw news of when you first got him (on an old WP account). So sad to hear he’s passed, but you have some wonderful memories of him and gave him a wonderful seven years with you. Lots of love and hugs to you all ❤️❤️❤️

Nubia and Rennie so close together? I am so sorry! I feel as if I am part of your family since following your blog.
Prayers for peace for you all from Nevada. Please update on who you still have.

It’s been indeed a sad year. We knew Rennie would at some point not be able to cope with CKD. Nubia came as a surprise. But both losses were keenly felt in our house. 🙁

Oliver, Mactavish and Freya are doing fine luckily but still adjusting to the changes.

Rennie started showing signs of getting worse for a few months which actually impacted Mactavish very much as he had no one to play with… we managed to get a good match up through a friend with an oriental kitten that had a good temperament for Mactavish and the 2 bonded within 5 minutes of seeing each other. 🥰

With everything going on I just haven’t had a chance to introduce the new family member yet. 🙈

We re glad Rennie also got to meet the new family member. He actually curled up with him and licked him as well. So it almost felt like a “the humans and Mactavish will be okay with you.”😰

We are so sorry to read abut Rennie. He gave and received so much love, and brought so much pleasure to those of us who never met him. Our oldest little girl, Moche age 13 + was recently diagnosed with CKD. May 1 she went out in the morning with here brothers and just…never came home. We feel she knew what was coming, and having endured a week of treatment at the vet earlier when she was diagnosed, she was just done with all that. (Had she not gone, I would have done all the treatment too, I don’t mean to imply that I would not. ) So your loss of sweet Rennie is an extra note of sadness. Purrs for all the good memories we both have.

It sadly is a very horrible disease with no cure. Rennie coped with it for as long as he could but on that weekend we realised it was just no longer fair on him as the kidney failure clearly put too much pain on his body. 🥲

    • Marc-André says:

Chronic kidney disease is terrible – definitely took him way too early over the rainbow bridge. 🥲
