The UK Tops Poll of Pet-Loving Europeans
Whatever happens, once we leave the EU on 31 January, there’s one thing we can be sure of regarding our place in Europe.
We still love our cats the most – it’s official.
The latest survey by Agria Pet Insurance across six European countries puts the UK at the top for loving our cats – with 95% of us head over heels for our feline companions. This compares with just 74% of the Danes who feel the love for their four-legged friends.
UK women appear to love their pets just that bit more than men, at 98% vs 93% respectively.
And if uncertainty around Brexit makes owners feel a bit anxious, spending time with our cat is the solution. 44% of cat owners in the UK find that their cat gives them comfort when they’re sad, ahead of Finland, in 2nd place, at 31%.
Agria’s survey examined the feelings of pet owners from the UK, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and France. Respondents from the UK came top across the board.
Simon Wheeler, Managing Director of Agria Pet Insurance, says, “Our latest research shows that the UK continues to stand firm in our long-held position of being the greatest animal lovers. Our pets mean everything to us, and during turbulent times, bring us more comfort than anything else.”
