Craft ideas for creative cat owners to make their own feline-friendly creations
Cat lovers will be able to pick up ideas for creating their own feline-friendly toys and treats with Cats Protection’s new Feline Crafty YouTube videos.
The UK’s largest cat charity has produced the series to show owners how to make a wealth of goodies for their pet using simple, cheap and easy-to-find materials.
Episodes, which can be viewed on the charity’s YouTube channel, include instructions for making a cosy cat bed using only a cardboard box and an old T-Shirt, how to make healthy homemade food treats and an easy-to-follow guide to making a DIY scratching post.
Cats Protection’s Social Media Manager Gemma Croker said the series was designed to help owners come up with entertaining, exciting and enriching activities for their cat.
She said: “Whether it’s to save money or simply for fun, many of us love the challenge of making homemade creations. We’re often asked for ideas by cat owners who want to make their own treats and toys for their cat but don’t know where to start, so we’ve come up with these fun video guides.
“Cats are well-known for enjoying new and unusual sleeping places or finding fun in the simplest of items, so they are great recipients for DIY projects. With their inquisitive and playful nature, it’s particularly fun to see how much enjoyment your cat can get by transforming a few household items.
“Introducing new games and treats is a great way to keep cats entertained, especially in the colder winter months when they may spend more time indoors.
“We’d love to see the result of everyone’s homemade creations so be sure to send us a photo on our Facebook page!”

I use parachute cord instead of string as it’s much stronger. My cat chews through string in a matter of minutes. Parachute cord is really cheap to buy online 🙂
Will have to take a look at the videos. Sounds like fun.
