Your Friday Art Cat Gets Moony

Sleeping Bear Dunes, Old Indian Trail

I knew it was a full moon week because people were driving dangerously, check out lines were slower, and, I was clumsier and more forgetful than normal. Plus, your Friday Art Cat wanted to go outside to sneak off into the bushes, and kept pawing at the door in an annoyingly persistent manner.

Cats and full moon
The Friday Art Cat must have gotten out because she managed to hang out with some other cats.

Feeling antsy myself, my husband and I found a nearby trail at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore to watch the sunset while the Full Buck Moon (one of its many nicknames) simultaneously appeared behind us, climbing over the dune.

The optical effect of the moon in person is so different when captured by a camera, but it effectively lit our way back along the woodsy trail. It was almost as magical as cats sitting on a branch.

Whoa…that IS weird! We all see the same moon. That’s what makes the moon so awesome. It connects all of us, no matter where we are.

Every now and then I see a gorgeous full moon in the sky as it just rises above the trees..I run and get my phone/camera, snap a great shot, and…it looks so small! I don’t have fancy equipment so I will just have to remember its majesty. And maybe that’s why my cats (especially Tom the boy) has been lurking inches from the back door — especially when its time to let the dogs out!

I know what you mean about the moon in a camera lens! My husband has a fancy camera and gets amazing moon pictures. Me, not so much. 🙂
