New Cats at Lady Dinah’s and the Return of Pet First Aid

As some of you may know we’ve been many times to Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium. So today we thought we’d share some news from them with you!

Hello, fellow cat lovers! It’s been quite a while since we last talked about Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium, which means that we have LOADS to share with you. Think of this photo of Puck in a box as a visual representation of the mews: full of lovely stuff ?

Before we crack on with all of that, we want to take a moment to appreciate the fact that the 17th of May marked the passing of a year since the Emporium re-opened after months of being closed due to lockdowns. They wouldn’t still have their purremises on Bethnal Green Road without everyone’s support, and they’re so glad that they’ve been able to continue welcoming guests to their little meowasis. Whether you contributed to their crowdfunder in 2020, have visited them since their re-opening, or express your love for their clowder via social media, they thank you!

You will not be disappointed as you scroll down, but don’t scroll too quickly! We wouldn’t want you to miss any important information. For instance, have you noticed the emergence of a gargantuan ball of hot plasma suspended in the sky? Scientists and other brainy types call it “the sun”. It makes an appearance at around this time of year, every year… Supposedly. It is very hot – hotter than Spain’s entry to Eurovision – and pairs nicely with cold beverages.

Thankfully, they’veve started serving a selection of iced teas! The flavours they offer include peach, raspberry, lime with jasmine tea, and watermelon with green tea. These drinks are almost as refreshing as their cats are cute, which is saying something.

Why not visit them and see for yourself? You’ll be in good company. To quote Mark Twain, when a person loves cats, we are their “friend and comrade, without further introduction.” Also, to paraphrase Twain, “the iced tea and Lady Dinah’s is really tasty.” He truly was a magnificent wordsmith!

Pet First Aid at Lady D’s

Pet First Aid is back! Prior to the onset of the pandemic, Lady Dinah’s team were proud to host courses on administering first aid to cats and dogs. These courses were popular and for good reason! If you’ve ever been faced with a situation where your pet required medical attention and you didn’t know how to help them, you understand the value of receiving CPD-certified training that would enable you to care for them.

This is a hands-on, practical course that is ideal for pet owners and pet professionals. It covers the main areas of first aid for cats and dogs, which are also applicable to most other animals, and it aims to give you the skills necessary to assist your pet when a vet is either not necessary or not immediately available.

Here’s what you need to know:

The cost of taking this course is £60 and its duration is 3 hours.

The course takes place on Wednesday the 29th of June 2022. There are two sessions to choose from: one which runs from 11am to 2pm, and one which runs from 3pm to 6pm.

Shakespurr & Co.

As The Bard wrote, “All the world’s a stage.” According to cats, what Bill neglected to mention is that their position on said stage should be in the centre – downstage if they’re feeling affectionate, upstage if they’d rather be admired from a distance.

At the end of last year, they welcomed four new stars to their troupe and named them after characters from Shakespeare’s plays. They named the two females of the litter Hero and Puck, and the males Lysander and Iago. While Puck is as frolicsome and sometimes mischievous as the fairy in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, rest assured that Iago is nothing like his wicked namesake. The kittens were born in August and are flourishing. If you’d like to learn more about them as individuals, click here to read the profiles the team of Lady Dinah’s have written.

The Shakespeare kittens aren’t the only cats to have made their debut at Lady Dinah’s recently! Matilda has been receiving rave reviews since she joined them a couple of months ago.

This little lady is the youngest member of their clowder. She is approximately 7 months old and loves to play. She’s affectionate, but be careful not to touch her back as she’s not so fond of that. When you want to befriend one of their cats, it’s always a nice idea to chat to one of their cat carers about their preferences. If you visit them often enough, you may find yourself in the privileged position of knowing every resident’s sweet spot. In which case, you will be rewarded handsomely with purrs and slow blinks.
