Fur-bulous Pets Seek Spook-Tacular Homes This Howl-oween

They may have scary names but these purr-fect pets have lots of love to give

These spook-tacular pets are hoping they’ll find eternal homes this Howl-oween.

While they may have creepy names, they have lots of love to give to the right family this Adoptober.

Can you give one of these fur-bulous furries a forever home?

Count Dracula

Ten-year-old domestic longhair Count Dracula is a stunning boy who can be a little timid and is looking for a quiet home with a family who can help build his confidence.

He is very sweet-natured and only shows his fangs when he’s tucking into his dinner!

Find out more about Count Dracula on Find A Pet or contact Bryn-y-Maen Centre, in Wales, on brynymaen@rspca.org.uk.

Shadow

Eight-year-old Staffie cross Shadow is a sweet boy who absolutely loves to play. He can be timid and struggles to socialise with other dogs but loves to spend time with people.

He was rescued due to welfare concerns and had conjunctivitis and poor skin but is now much better and is ready for a new start.

Find out more about Shadow on Find A Pet or contact Brent Knoll Animal Centre, in Somerset, by emailing enquiries@rspcanorthsomerset.org.uk.

Pumpkin & Spice

Two-year-old bunnies Pumpkin and Spice arrived in RSPCA care with a large number of rabbits and are now looking for their forever home together. Pumpkin and Spice found love and are now inseparable; they love to snooze together and groom each other.

Pumpkin is an independent girl who likes a fuss (on her own terms!) and is curious about everything going on around her. Spice is a confident boy who likes his own space and spends most of his time napping but also enjoys having a head rub.

Find out more about Pumpkin and Spice online or contact Bryn-a-Maen Centre, in Wales, on brynymaen@rspca.org.uk.

Boo, Spook & Scare

Boo, Spook and Scare have been at the RSPCA’s Bryn-y-Maen Animal Centre in North Wales for over a year after being rescued from a house with over 200 other degus. They are mischievous, energetic and playful boys who are extremely well behaved, despite their ghoulish names.

They are looking for a home with a large cage with lots of levels for them to explore and play and a variety of degu friendly toys and chews.

If you think you could offer this troublesome trio a new home, fill in a Perfect Match form and email it to the Bryn-a-Maen team, in Wales, on brynymaen@rspca.org.uk.

Bones

Eight-year-old Bones is a lovely lad who loves to sit atop his scratching post and watch the world go by. He’s chatty and would like someone who will keep him company around the house and let him sit on their lap for strokes.

Bones is looking for a home where he’ll be the only pet and needs owners who can take things at his pace and will be understanding. He could live with older children and, once settled, he’d love access to outside space.

Find out more about Bones online or contact RSPCA Halifax and Huddersfield, in West Yorkshire, by emailing enquiries@rspcahalifaxhudersfieldbradford.org.uk.

Nearly Headless Nick

Nearly Headless Nick is a big lad with an even bigger personality, who enjoys telling everyone within earshot how hungry he is!

This beautiful black six-year-old moggie, who is being cared for at the RSPCA’s Bryn-y-Maen Animal Centre in North Wales, would prefer to be the only pet in the home and could live with secondary-aged children.

If you think you could offer this quirky boy a new home please fill in a Perfect Match form and email it to the team, in Wales, on brynymaen@rspca.org.uk.

Pumpkin & Spice

Pretty guinea pigs Pumpkin and Spice are 18-months-old and are looking for a fur-bulous home together this Halloween. They’re a happy and friendly pair of piggies who love munching on hay and fresh vegetables.

The confident duo would be suitable for new guinea pig owners and could be introduced to a group or a single male piggie. They’d like a large enclosure with lots of enrichment for them to enjoy.

Find out more about Pumpkin & Spice online or contact RSPCA Northamptonshire branch by emailing RSPCA Northamptonshire on adoptions@rspca-northamptonshire.org.uk.

Hades

Two-year-old Labrador cross Staffie Hades may have a dark name but he’s a sweet and loving lad who has waited far too long for his forever home.

He needs a quiet, calm and adult-only home with patient and experienced dog owners who can help him get used to a normal home life. The poor lad can be nervous around strangers and he’ll need adopters to visit regularly to get to know him. He was very under socialised when he first arrived but has come a long way and will go much further with the right help. He’s a quick learner and is very smart so is sure to pick up more training.

Find out more about Hades online or contact Cotswolds Dogs and Cats Home, in Gloucestershire, by emailing reception@cdch.org.uk.

Raven & Midnight

Young black cats Raven and Midnight are sweet eight-month-old kittens who love each other and are looking for a new home together. The bonded sisters are sweet and enjoy cuddles and being stroked. As they’ve settled in, staff have found out that they can be playful too!

Raven and Midnight love to lounge around inside so will need lots of cosy corners to snuggle and snooze in. They could live with children and may also be able to live with a friendly dog.

Find out more about Raven & Midnight on Find A Pet or contact Bridlington, Driffield & District branch, in East Yorkshire, by emailing rspca.bridlington@hotmail.co.uk.

Don’t turn your back on a black cat!

This week (Wednesday 27 October) marks National Black Cat Day which shines a light on the plight of unwanted black cats. RSPCA figures reveal that it takes longer for black cats to be adopted, with an average of nearly 35 days for a black cat to find his or her forever home, compared to around 28 days for a tabby cat.

Black cats are often associated with superstitions and some people believe they don’t look good in photos which sadly means it can take longer for a black cat in a rescue centre to find a home.

Dr Jane Tyson, scientific officer for the RSPCA’s companion animals department, said: “It is a sad fact that black cats really don’t have much luck because we see more of them coming through our doors than any other colour of cat, other than black and white cats, possibly because they are much more common.

“Other cats, such as tabbies, have distinctive markings making them look more attractive to some but we would urge people to look beyond what an animal looks like. Their fur colour makes no difference to how much love they have to give. Black cats won’t bring you good luck or bad luck but they do need forever homes. If you can bring some magic into their lives they are sure to bring some love into yours.”
