RSPCA Appeals for Information After six Kittens Abandoned Inside Cat Carrier

Six 10-week-old kittens were squashed inside one cat carrier and found by a tree

The RSPCA is appealing for information after six kittens were found inside a pink and black cat carrier by a member of the public in Abbey Wood, London.

The 10-12 week old tabby and white kittens were found on Sunday 11 July at around 9.20am in Woodbrook Road, by a member of the public who spotted the kittens inside a pink and black cat carrier by a tree.

There was no food or water and no note found with the litter of kittens.

The passerby took them home and contacted the RSPCA for help.

Inspector Grace Harris-Bridge collected them and took the young cats to RSPCA Leybourne Animal Centre in Kent for some much-needed TLC. She is now appealing to find out how these kittens came to be abandoned.

She said: “These poor kittens had been squashed inside a cat carrier and callously dumped by the side of the road. They must have been so scared and confused.

“We know that unfortunately people’s circumstances can change which may mean they can no longer care for their pets but abandoning an animal like this is never the solution. We would urge anyone who is struggling to please reach out for help from friends or family, or charities like ourselves.

“They were abandoned on a busy, residential street so I’m keen for anyone who may have seen something to please get in touch with the RSPCA.”

Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious around Woodbrook Road in Abbey Wood on Sunday morning, or Saturday night, or anyone who recognises these cats, is asked to please get in touch with the charity the inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.

The kittens, five females and one male, are in good health and are doing well at the animal centre in Maidstone.

I don’t understand why someone would bundle them into a carrier, load them in a car and drive somewhere to just dump them when those same steps could have taken them to a rescue or shelter. They are absolutely beautiful. I’m sure they’ll find good homes. What worries me is there is an un-spayed mom out there and the next batch of kittens might not be so lucky. I wish the officer luck in tracking their origin.
