The Friday Art Cat: “Judith Leyster’s Cat”

FRIDAY ART CAT

“Judith Leyster’s Cat”

This rather sad, beautiful looking cat I drew from the painting “A boy and a girl with a cat and an eel” by Judith Leyster, which lives in the National Gallery, London.

I responded to a postcard of this while at a cancer workshop last week run by the wonderful Macmillan charity – I thought the cats plaintive, yet resigned face was so well rendered in the painting.

I suppose its expression may well be due to its tail being pulled by the girl beside it !

Please Google the original and let me know what you think.
