We Celebrated International Cat Care 60th Birthday With Them

Hi everyone,

Last month we once again attended the Annual Awards ceremony of International Cat Care. Apart from finding out about who has won their much-desired awards and how the goals of the charity are coming along, it’s always a pleasure to meet old friends and make new friends on the day!

This year’s awards were held at Church House in Westminster, and luckily despite the Awards ceremony clashing with Trump’s visit to the UK we were unaffected by his visit. 🙂

As some of you probably know the charity is working on getting everyone involved with the International Declaration of Responsibilities to Cats for both pet and stray cats alike. They had a live signing for this at the event.

And… I also got to meet James (yes Street Cat Bob‘s human! He is in the back with the floral Shirt) and Steven (front left) from LondonCats.

More details on the awards and the 60th birthday can be found below.

Thanks,

Marc

International Cat Care celebrates 60th birthday at its Annual Awards

International Cat Care’s Annual Award Ceremony took place at the prestigious Church House in Westminster, London on 13th July. The annual event celebrates the achievements of the charity and pays homage to those individuals and companies who have shown a real commitment and dedication to improving the health and welfare of cats.

This year’s awards also celebrated the charity’s 60th birthday and were attended by some of iCatCare’s key supporters from the animal welfare sector, together with companies and organisations who have helped, sponsored and supported the charity over its 60 years.

International Cat Care’s patron, Lord Guy Black opened the awards ceremony, paying tribute to the work of the charity which was summed up in a fascinating video outlining the achievements made by International Cat Care in the past 60 years. Professor Stuart Carmichael, iCatCare’s chairman was then on hand to present the awards:

Easy to Give Awards – recognising pharmaceutical companies which have made it easier to give medication to cats

  • Dechra for Felimazole Coated Tablets for Cats
  • Zoetis for Stronghold Plus spot-on solution for cats
  • Zoetis for VibraVet Paste
  • Bayer for Seresto flea and tick collar for cats

Cat Friendly Awards – recognising products which have made a difference to cat wellbeing

  • ProtectaPet for Cat Fencing Solutions
  • Coastline Global for Kit4Cat Cat Urine Sample Collection Sand

  • Margaret Fry for the best result received in the Diploma in Feline Nursing

Innovation in Humane Cat Population Management – this special award for 2018 recognises the products and ideas which have made major contributions to the ability to help cats in the field of Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR)

  • MDC Export’s traps, restrainers and transfer baskets

2018 iCatCare Photography Competition winner – awarded to the overall winner of the charity’s ‘Kittenhood’ photo competition

  • Lindsey Chadwick

Claire Bessant, International Cat Care’s Chief Executive said of the award ceremony: ‘It is a real privilege to be here today, surrounded by so many cat-loving individuals and companies who truly think cat. We are delighted to be able to pay tribute to this year’s award winners whose hard work and dedication really do benefit cats, whether it enables easier medicating, provides the tools to better care for pet cats, or helps those working alongside street cats. There are so many people here today who have worked hand in hand with International Cat Care over the years, offering support and advice, enabling us to make real sustainable changes in cat health and welfare. We are delighted and honoured to be celebrating our 60th birthday with them.’

In addition to the award presentation, guests were treated to a unique photo exhibition of street cats; a selection of beautiful and striking images of cats taken from the charity’s latest book, ‘Street Cats’ which was also launched at the event. The exhibition and book (the printing of which was kindly funded by Ceva), provide a fascinating insight into the lives of cats surviving without owners around the world, and reflect the reality of a life on the streets, with some cats thriving and others struggling. All money raised from sales of the photographic prints and the book will go towards iCatCare’s welfare work.

Sincere thanks go to Agria, Ceva and Royal Canin who kindly sponsored the event.

That looks like quite the celebration! So great that you got to be a part of it, and to help Cat Care celebrate their 60th. And we are envious that you got to meet James! That is so cool!

Thank you! They are such a great charity so we very much enjoyed our day with them. And yes it’s always great to see James. 🙂

If you can make it to Manchester in October he will be at the family pet show and our stall will be near him and the FELIX interactive VR zone. 😀
