Purrsday Poetry: My Midnight Valentine: to A.V.P., in Eternity

My midnight valentine, who brings me love
Amid the worst of misery, dear friend,
How in the darkest hours you help me mend!
In faithful silence, you whose care’s above
All censure, you with each warm velvet glove,
Protect me from those hells my pain can send:
By holding me in your warm arms you tend
My miseries — what charms are you made of?

A silver valentine upon your heart
Was there the moment that I met you, when,
Without a sound you followed me and came
Into my house, to bless me with your art.
Our first Thanksgiving! How I loved you then
And ever will, with your poetic name!
