On His Terms

DSC_0810On a cold November day, my spouse and I went to the Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society and fell in love with Goose and all his soft fluff.

Unlike some rescue cats, Goose wasn’t shy at all. After a few hours, he was exploring our house with his tail up in the air, sniffing everything and nudging anything within range of his nose.

For the next two years, Goose ruled the house. He was as fearless as cats come, basking in the attention at parties and exploring great outdoors with his leash and harness.

I never finished writing this, and didn’t realize it had been scheduled!

I had planned to write more about how the puppy came along and interrupted Goose’s peaceful reign, and the recommended gradual introductions didn’t work. Goose ran at the puppy and growled at him, and the puppy just kind of tried to sit on him. And then it became a back and forth of playing together, the puppy trying to sit or lay down on the cat, and the cat chasing the puppy into the corner.

I think I never finished this because it was taking a while for them to figure each other out, and then I started teaching again, and forgot all about it!

oops! It was sitting in our pending posts so I thought it had been finished as an initial intro post!!! Are you up for continuing / finishing the story in a part 2 type post? 🙂

      • Sara says:

I can. I have more of it written, I just need to find it in my computer and edit. If you give me a deadline, I’ll make sure I actually finish the post this time. 🙂

Hey Sara. If you could get it on the CMS by the end of the year that would be awesome and I’ll find a slot for it. 🙂

That was the name the shelter gave him, and even though they said most of the cats there didn’t know their names, he responded to it.

Yeah kinda gotta keep it then… Fortunately for me, the last 3 cats I got were young enough I was able to re-name. Plus I just can’t stand the names some people give cats. My first cat I named Tom Jerry (after the cartoon I was 3 or 4 but would do it again!) my cat Jonathan we fostered a bit the rescue named him William while they had him. I thought he looked like Johnny Cat from the litter bag that and well NKOTB was still a thing then. We got Tiffany before him, don’t remember what they were calling her but that was one of the reasons Jon got his name the rumor from back then NKOTB Jon was dating Tiffany. Sully I named after my favorite band’s lead singer.
