The Cats of Lanzarote, Canary Islands Part 2

Hi everyone,

Following on from our first post about the cats of Lanzarote we wanted to share some more of our photos with you.

At one part of our holiday we went to a seaside village (Not that there is much without water around the island! :o) and we actually got to meet some resident cats that appeared well looked after.

As we were walking down the seafront path we heard a “meow” and as we turned around…

This little fella was rushing towards us!

He was actually well fed and looked very well looked after so we assume he wasn’t one of the stray cats.

He loved walking along the wall towards the beach and was very friendly. 🙂

In the afternoon on our way back we found him all curled up in-between the plants.

But he wasn’t alone…

A calico cat joined him in the shade.

As it was quite a hot day there were a few other cats scattered around the area and we especially loved these two:

And just because the island has many stray cats as seen in our first post doesn’t mean that people don’t love cats and look after them!

For example our local hotel and restaurant had two very friendly cats living with them:

Of course seeing the black kitty made me feel home sick as I was thinking of Nubia back at home. 🙂

Oh and at night we run into this guy… quite a chubby little guy who meowed at all the tourists for food!

We hope you enjoyed this post and don’t forget to send us your own stories if you’d like to contribute. 🙂

Thanks,

Marc

The cats on this island seems to live a good life. Yesterday a relative of mine escaped the Swedish winter and traveled to the Canary Ilands. I hope you greated her with a nice and warm weather ???

Very nice post. There seem to be stray cats all over the world. I have made several posts about cats and dogs in Greece. They nearly break my heart. I love cats so much and these are really cute.

Marc, you of course don’t spoil any of the cats a bit, right? Like, you never slip a teensy bit of food to them? I can tell just by reading your posts that you ignore all strays, probably just kicking them out of your way. Softie! Give one an ear scratch for me. I can’t have pets now because of my power chair and the danger of possibly running one over, but I love the little stinkers.

Thanks for part 2. The pictures were more uplifting than part 1. The cats looked comfy. I shared this post on Linkedin. Do you spoil the cats since they’re strays? Let me know Marc.
