Cat Naps Winners – The story of Pitkis

‘Pitkis’ photographed by Johanna Vaurio-Teräväinen – 2016 iCatCare Cat Naps photography competition overall winner

You may remember a picture in last year’s calendar of Velipoika – this is Pitkis, his brother.

“His mum was a stray cat and I rescued him and his brother as kittens. We live in Nurmijarvi in Finland and the cats spend most of their time outside in the summertime. Pitkis is very relaxed and loves to roll and lie down almost anywhere as you can see!”

A unanimous favourite of the judges because of the beautiful background colours and Pitkis in the foreground looking so peaceful sleeping in such a weird but wonderful location – this image by Johanna is our 2016 Cat Naps photography competition overall winner!

As our overall winner Johanna will receive £500, a year’s subscription to Your Cat magazine and a selection of iCatCare merchandise. Her winning image will also be on the cover of our 2017 Cat Naps calendar – which will be sold to raise funds for our charity.

8-Pitkis

How many times have we seen cat photo competition winners from competitions in various media, and we think to ourselves, “I got better photos than that!” But we never enter or submit them!
