Guest Star: Toby the “dog” cat!

Hi everyone,

Today’s guest post comes from Igor (one of our Twitter friends) and his cat companion Toby:

This is our kitty.

He likes to sleep in our bed, and will often meow whisper at us.

We gave him a dog name “Toby”, because he behaves more like a little dog – wags his tail and is very happy when we come back from work.

Another unusual behaviour is – when we stroke his tummy, he moves the front paws like he is doing a massage.

Another interesting detail: On both sides as a kitten he had a pattern – a small oval.

Every time he uses his toilet he will meow to report about the dirty toilet tray and we have to clean it right away!

He is a wonderful kitty, we’re really love him..

Thanks,

Marc

Cute kitty, cute enough not to need nail polish. Have you ever watched your cat when it cleans itself? It chewes its nails. You do not want your kitty to have to digest the polish. That cannot be healthy.

Those are none toxic safe nail “caps”

I don’t think we’ve got them in the UK or Germany but my cousin sent us a pack of pink ones for Oliver for Christmas from the US once.

I didn’t put them on because I don’t have problems with him scratching stuff but I can see how this could be good for people in the US and most certainly much better than declawing, which I wish was illegal in the US!

Thank you, dear Mark, and all those who read and commented on. Some of you have asked, or even resent about Toby’s nails. This is not nail polish but special recommended by veterinarians made of non-toxic vinyl covers for claws – nail caps for pets (you can google “Soft Paws”). They are removable and do not cause discomfort to the animal. Thank you all for your interest and pleasant words. I wish you all a good mood. I wish Mark and his site all the best.

I think that you are right Carol.Toby is wearing little claw covers to protect furniture and not nail Polish. He does not seem to wear them all the time. Igor, would you be kind enough to tell us about Toby’s claw covers.
Hello Toby, lovely to meet you. You are a little Darling.
Phoebe, Leo, Errol Flynn and Merlin send you big whiskery kisses.?

What an adrable cat! It was nice to see the nail caps. The cats can still get the exercise they get from clawing without damaging anything. Declawing is still too common in the US and with these there is no need. They are a great invention. Also, people with medical conditions or older people with thin skin don’t have to worry about getting scratched if they want the companionship of a cat.
