Cat Travel: Brussels Cat Cafés – A Cat Lovers Paradisee

Hi everyone,

Today’s guest post comes from our Vanessa who runs Traveling Cats:

Many people say that Brussels is a boring city. However, these people probably didn’t have cat lovers in mind.

Brussels is a paradise for cat lovers because it doesn’t have just one but TWO cat cafés.

With my blog Traveling Cats my aim is to introduce people to all sorts of cat-related tourist attractions around the world. These include cat museums, hotels with resident cats, and, of course, cat cafés. In 2015, I visited the two cat cafés in Brussels – MangaKat and Le Chat Touille – and wrote about them on Traveling Cats (http://www.traveling-cats.com/2015/09/cats-from-saint-josse-ten-noode-belgium.html and http://www.traveling-cats.com/2014/11/cats-from-saint-gilles-belgium.html). Today, however, I’d like to give you a little sneak peak here on Katzenworld.

My favorite Brussels’s cat café is MangaKat which is situated in one of the city’s most famous Art Nouveau buildings. They opened only recently, in February 2015, and currently have six adorable cats that love to cuddle with visitors.

MangaKat is more than a cat café, though. As the name suggests, it is also a manga café. In case you don’t know the term, manga are Japanese comic books. Honestly, is there a better way to end your day then to read a good (cat) manga in the company of six adorable felines and eating some delicious quiche or cake while you’re at it? I don’t think so.

The second cat café in Brussels is Le Chat Touille.

Let me brush up your French. ‘Le Chat’ is French for ‘the cat’, but the word ‘chatouille’ also means ‘tickle’. A fun name for a cat café, don’t you think?

Le Chat Touille is less cozy than MangaKat and is also situated outside of the center, so you’ll have to take public transportation to get there. On the other hand, Le Chat Touille is easier to visit. It is open from Tuesdays to Sundays from 12pm to 8pm while MangaKat is only open on Fridays and Saturdays between 6pm and 11pm.

    Bonjour L AMI DES CHATS
    Bises , Bernard belle semaine

Je t’offre un petit café ou tisane

Our humans enjoyed visiting Brussels! I don’t think they visited any cat cafes though. Our daddy is allergic to furred cats. Fortunately he’s not allergic to us Sphynx!

The good thing about cat cafes is that you can expose yourself for a little while to see kitties. A friend of mine is allergic too and she takes antihistamine. Loads of it. Before her monthly cat cafe visit. I should tell her to get a Sphynx too. 😀

If you’d like to do a guest post you’d be most welcome btw. We’ve not had a Sphynx as Saturday guest star before!!!
