A Soft Bed

A Soft BedElvis has always been fond of a nice bed. Back in our old flat, our bed was one of his favourite places to sleep. He also liked to come in and snuggle on the bed with us in the mornings, if we were being lazy and not getting up.

We recently had guests over, and they slept on an airbed in our living room. Elvis was very happy about that arrangement – both the guests, and the airbed! It was seeing that happiness that made me realise how much he probably misses being able to get to our bed.

A Soft Bed 2Our room has been off limits pretty much since we moved in, because all the boxes that have not yet been sorted (almost six months later!) are in there, and we don’t want the cats getting in amongst all that clutter.

The downside of that is that Elvis doesn’t get to sleep on the bed anymore. And it means he doesn’t cuddle with us as much, because on the bed was his favourite place to do that. (Second favourite was the sofa, and we don’t currently have one!)

I guess sorting our bedroom needs to move up the priority list… Elvis needs “his” bed back!

Love,

Lady Joyful

Do it and do it fast – or you will end up with decades of those boxes staying unpacked – till you have forgotten what was in there. I am speaking from experience.

If Elvis is anything like my Jamima he’ll be on your bed all day long. Gone are the days I come home to be greeted by my fur-baby. I go out, she’s on the bed. I come home and seriously you would think she hasn’t moved.

I bought a big bed for my dog but he won’t use it, but my cat Zima has taken it over. She loves it and she looks so adorable snuggled down into that bed. Elvis is such a sweet looking cat. I’m sure Elvis will be happy no matter what.

Aw, sweet! I remember my aunt’s cat years ago commandeered their big dog’s bed. It was quite amusing. You’re right, Elvis is a sweetie 🙂 Thanks for commenting!

Aw, so sweet. My cat goes through sleeping place phases. One week he’ll sleep on nothing but the cupboard, next it will be the washing basket, the next on top of the DVD player. Does any one else cat do this?

    • Lady Joyful says:

Ours do that to an extent – especially Sampson. It’s mostly that he’ll rotate between a few places. So one week he’ll be on a kitchen chair, the next on the mat by the living room door, then the cat tree, then back to the chair… Thanks for commenting! 🙂

My boys rotate all the time too, one week on the floor next to my bed, sometimes on the bed, on the towel stack, under my room mates bed, couch, on top of the scratching post, and the turtle tank. They have never settled in one place! During winter they usually don’t move off a bed though!

Yes, ma’am! 😉 It is up there on our priority list, but we’ve been so busy lately (me particularly) that even things high on the priority list are taking a while to get sorted. Thanks for commenting 🙂

We allow our three cats to think that we are staff, ready to jump on every whine or meow. In the morning they pace about while I make the bed so that it is perfectly comfy for them…

Just keep that guest bed and settle down there. You’ll have a happy cat and plenty of time for your boxes 😉

Yes, indeed! Although even in our old flat we would try to keep that out of the bedroom at night. We have to have two doors between us and them because they (especially Lola and Sampson) scratch at the door and meow, and if they’re in the bedroom with us Lola yells, Sampson wants kisses all the time, and nobody gets any sleep! Elvis is pretty well behaved, so he could come in with us, but is it fair on the others if he gets preferential treatment..? Thanks for commenting 🙂
