Your Friday Art Gato della Via

Pencil drawing of a cat on the streets of Italy.

When I’m traveling, I search out cats wherever they can be found. Most often, that means the mousers and vagrants who are just managing in out-of-the-way places. I admire those scrappy street cats who carry on with cleverness, skill, and a little good luck. Your Friday Art Cat celebrates the self-reliant feline renegades of the hard-knock life.

When I travel to places where there are street cats I feel drawn to hang out a while with them and take them some food if they are in challenging circumstances. The mother of my 3 cats was a very clever street cat. She was a marvelous survivor, making the very best of her living situation by finding a nice garden to live in, while many of the other street cats just spent all their time at the dumpster. Joyful greetings, Sam 🙂

Awww, it sounds like mom cat appreciated beauty! Thanks for sharing your story. My husband has so many pictures of me stalking strays in different cities. I think it’s a fine hobby. 🙂

Fortunately, there are a few caring groups, like, Alley Cats Allies in the U.S., and I am sure there are other groups in different countries that adhere to the philosophy of capture, neuter and release. They give the cats a chance to get their shots and neuter them and release them back to the area in which they were found. That cuts down on the number of cats wandering around wondering where their next meal will come from. We need more groups like this around to help the cats.

Oh, your drawing is so beautiful! I have to say I also love that the cat is from Fabriano, I’ve been there for an exchange with school and it’s a neat little city 🙂
